"Simplest phone in the world"(?)

At least that's what Doro thinks upon the release f their Doro Handleplus24 GSM(if that includes the naming of the phone is not clear however). As previously reported Emporias Seniophone was released this year only

to be completely neglected, not only by us but also their aimed customer segment: seniors. Doro however takes the concept even one step further and aims not only on elderly and visually handicapped but also on mentally retarded. So what will they get? First of all let's sort out the "seven button issue", no, they are not used to dial any number, no they're quick buttons for five predialed numbers. Except from that there are not that much to report about since this isthe "simplest phone" ever, to mess things up there are no display, no camera and not even a decent battery time. It's easy to handle and grab, one of the most important key-aspects on a phone of this sort I spose and with simplicity in mind I think pricing is a tiny bit complex, US $150..

Spotify in your phone

But how good is it? Well, first off you need a (Google)Android based phone or a iPhone. On the iPhone you can't multitask, say, write a message AND continue listening to Spotify, while on the Android-phone, you can. However, with a little jalbreaking and extra

apps rumous are that you can make this happen on the iPhone as well. A side from this the Spotify functions are the same. If you also run Spotify on your home computer the lists are synchronized which I think is good, however if you try to listen to both your computer and phone version simultanously on of them stops depending on which one you run first, not so good..Streaming the music works pretty fine and as for the cost, I'm sure this function will lure even more people to sign up for the $13/month premium account.

Not as expensive as expected.

With a better menu system(based on Windows Mobile 6.5)and 8.1 megapixel camera Sony-Ericsson might have

dealt with the criticism that made the X1 some what of a dissapointment, sales wise at least. The design is similar but the phone is lighter, only 110 grams and the battery supports impressive 6 h speach and 640 h standby. Pricing around $700 and expected release Q4.
29.08.2009 14:05

Not as expensive as expected.

As previously reported(26.07.2009)rumours where this phone, LG GD910, would hit the £1000 barrier, brittish pound that is..LG got their sanity together however and the official

price is now £500($750) and then only slightly more expensive as Samsungs wrist phone also expected this autumn. This little baby however is expected Aug 27th and remarkable for this phone is the included bluetooth head set but maby it's a new necessity for this type of phone.

4 inch screen on new LG:s new Chocolate.

Also known as BL40, this, the fourth mobile phone in the LG Chocolate-serie will be available in 54 countries early Q3 this year. As for the specs, the Koreans doesn't hold back,

GPS, WIFI and a 5 megapixel accompany the 4" multitouch screen(800x345 pixel), also making it the first phone to display the 21:9 format, yummy!
12.08.2009 09:48

No more Jailbreaking if it's up to Apple.

Hacking your phone have gained alot in popularity in recent years. So much it seems the manufacturers now see it as a threat. With a jailbreaked phone you can use any application with your phone, authorized or not but in Apple's recent application to the authoritys they also claim

a hacked phone can access the baseband(BBF) which not only could have an positive influence on the hackers phone bills but also, potentially, enable anonymous calls, especially interesting for dope-dealers..No I'm kidding you not! As if this wasn't enough officials also claim that a jailbroken phone(iPhone of course) could crash a cell tower "a hill of beans"..If you want to read more about this mess check it out here. Otherwise, answers from the copyright office is expected later this year, I keep you informed.

Samsung S9110,connectivity around your wrist!

Before LG(together with Orange)managed to spit out its muched talked about wrist-phone Samsung s9110 now just popped out, out of nowhere. With mediaplayer, touchscreen and functions like bluetooth and Outlook compability and a fair price,

US $450(less then a third of LG:s £1000 -phone),it might become the first wrist-phone to really make it big. First out in Europe is France already late summer, elsewhere Q4.

4" display and 21:9 format!

It's when we lurked around, looking for information on the successor of LG:s successful "chocolate", this piece of information came across! LG BL40, as it's named, the next phone out of LG:s "black label" -series will there for be the first

mobile phone on the market featuring this format, the same format we're used to watch movies on the theater in, 21:9. Multitouch and flash will make sure the usability is on top and the resoulution, 800x345, is impressive. A side from this we don't no much more but the camera is a Schneider-kreuznach and the phone will also feature GPS.

Below 0C or abow 35C, new iPhone 3Gs turns pink?

Officials confirm. Poor to say the least as temperatures abow 35C(95 F) or below 0(37 F)are most likely in many parts of the world and would exclude

major markets. So what about the pink? Many users across the web have reported that the white model well, ain't white anymore but that's nothing Apple confirm. However they've released advice on how to handle this matter on their website, here.
29.06.2009 17:36

Impressive smartphone small in size.

And that's not all, as the name suggests, the menu-system in Samsung Jet also loads very quick. The platform, developed by the Koreans themselves comes with the Samsun Dolphin web browser(with flash-support) and

together with the 800 Mhz processor limits waiting-time to almost non-existant. The display is a 3.1"(AMOLED) and the camera a 5 megapixel and a 3.5 mm earphone socket make the phone compatible with your favourite headphones. Other iPhone challengers weakness, their lack of extra program, Samsung hope to cure with so called, "widgets" which can be downloaded to the phone as on the iPhone. Also Samsungs Omnia serie will be extended this June and as for pricing on this one it's yours for ~ $650, and yes, about the size: 108.8 x 53.5 x 11.9 mm, 94g (3.3oz).
14.06.2009 16:53

And so it's here..

..well almost at least, iPhone 3G S, with S standing for speed, will be on the shelves June 19 th if you happen to live in the States, Canada, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Spain or Switzerland -the rest of us will have to wait approximately 3 weeks more( until July 9th). So what are we waiting for? Given the spectacular rumours around

this phone it's somewhat disappointing to report on this phone. The 3.2 camera without flash or photolight is still a major drawback although video recording is now supported in 640x480 res and the design, well, it's the same. Changing a successful concept might be stupid but with the competitors closing in I don't know if Apple has a choice. The memory is doubled however, 16 or 32 GB and as for the pricing it's the same iPhone 3G had when launched($199/299) so no reduction there, however the IPhone 3G will still be on the market for $99. With only a slightly better battery I don't se that many advantages with the IPhone 3G S and if you not own an iPhone already or not in desperate need of MMS(yes it's there now)my advice to you would be to get the old model as it's also updated with iPhone 3.0 software, $99 seems like a bargain to me.
08.06.2009 11:07

Record low price on new iPhone?

We'll know this morning, 10 a.m. the press conferance is held in San Fransisco. Rumours says we will see two versions with a much needed 3.2 megapixel camera and the capacaity has doubled to 16/32 GB. Also existing Iphone 3G owners are most likely to get their share

with the update to the iPhone 3.0 software making it possible to MMS and cut and paste on also the iPhone 3G. One of the more unconfirmed rumours talks about an OLED-display with HD-capacity but what seems to be for certain is a reduction in price, as low as under $ 100 according to some..to be continued.
29.05.2009 15:25

Speculations: Sony + Ericsson = playstation mobile?

It's not that far-fetched, combining the companies products of success would sure result in an tempting outcome; the playstation mobile but it's not until now

any company official confirmed our rumours and it isn't just any offical, it's the MD. Yes, you heard it, in an recent interview with the Financial Times the head-man Hideki Komiyama says "No idea is to wild or crazy to be tried out" and when then journalist ask if that would conclude a playstation phone he says "It's possible". When it comes to new products this is actually a quite dearing comment and the question I think they(Sony-Ericsson) should ask themselves is however they can afford to NOT develope a potential product like this. Fingers crossed.
10.05.2009 14:34

Full HD in your phone!

Chip-manufacturer Renesa's new chip makes it possible to, not only, show HD(1080 P resolution) in your phone but also supports

5.1 surround-sound! As for the use of this feature, full HD or not won't really boost the view experience on a 3"-display, it's more the compability options that looks really interesting. The chip, prepared for an HDMI output(on your phone)makes recording a movie through the camera and showing it on your TV an possibility, for once. However the standard of mobile phone cameras needs to improve but with this growth ground it's just a matter of when.
04.05.2009 15:28

Samsungs first Android-phone.

The I7500 will become the companys first phone based on the Android platform when released late this summer. It holds a touchscreen

(3.2 AMOLED)and Samsung continue their multimedia aspiration providing it with WLAN and a 3.5 millimeter headphone output. The camera is a 5 megapixels and built in is 8 GB of memory. As the Android-phone it is it of course also support most Google-services, "Latitude" and "Maps" being the most interesting ones as the GPS phone it also is. Latest rumours says it's up for release late june.
27.04.2009 17:05

Nokia takes mobile phone payments one step further

It's with Nokia 6216 Classic, the companys third so called NFC(Near field communication) phone nokia is taking the technology one step further. Your credit card information is stored, supposedly safely on

your phone and the NFC will make it possible to make an payment when showing your phone for a sensor. It can also be used for ID purposes. As for the phone it's a relatively cheap model, probably for spreading the technology and it's expected late summer. Pricing starts around $250.
19.04.2009 13:59

Touchscreen, not expensive anymore.

With the LG KP500 the Koreans prove a good quality touchscreen not necessarily have to dig a whole in your wallet. With previous touchscreen models like their much appreciated Viewty the company

has developed an menu-interface only challenged by the iPhone, according to me. However this is a budget model(~ $360) and goodies like Wlan and GPS are missing. To cut prices also the camera, a 3 megapixels without flash or photolight, isn't top-notch but if that's a high priority for you I'd advice you to take a look at the Renoir from the same company. Out for sale now.
12.04.2009 16:02

Samsung pioneering mobile media usage.

It's with the new Samsung Movie service the company is taking media/phone compability one step further. Through IP-TV-technology you'll be able to choose from a range of movies and TV-series

but at this point, you not only need to reside in the UK to enjoy this service, you also need a Samsung touch ultra(pictured). However a worldwide launch will follow and most likely other manufacturers will follow in Samsungs footsteps. Hopefully that will also pressure the prices, $ 4 for a rental($ 8 to keep).
01.04.2009 16:29

"Exclusive iPhone material", not very exclusive anymore.

We're sorry if we bombarde you with iPhone elated news but piece of information from American analysis group Medialets should please also the heaviest anti-apple consumer out there. According to the group, up to 100% (!) of

some app store applications are installed on the iphone from illegal copies and at least 20% of the applications are available online, for free. Many developers claim they miss out on a lot of money because of this(of course) but not everyone's concerned. Steve Dementer, multimillionare and the brain behind one of the biggest iPhone gaming successes, Trism, states it was just after his baby started to get bootlegged his sales really skyrocketed. Regardless what your opinion is no one but the code-crackers themselves seems to control it.
22.03.2009 21:03

A phone and a shave please!

And no, it's not a RAZR, it's a Chinese(of course), a Cool 758 to be specific. In contrast of other phones this segment, well not the shave segment but the revolting-kind-a-segment the Cool 758 actually is pretty full on specs as well. Touchscreen,

Media player, radio and not only one, but two sim-slots this Chinese brings you the most. As for the quality we don't no much yet but it's already on the the market and at this point the only thing missing is a better camera(2 megapixel) and about the design, let's just say it ain't really me..
16.03.2009 21:03

Invitation from Apple, the new Iphone 3.0 is here!

Well this tuesday a preview will be given and knowing it's Apple we deal with we should not make any predictions but hey! That's what this site's all about so here we go:

1. The much yearned for, MMS function will be announced. 2. The already incorporated "Google Maps" -function will be improved, probably with the "Latitude" addition making it possible to track your buddies by pinpointing them on the map. 3. We will get a date when these improvements(the 3.0 version) will be available..
08.03.2009 16:53

"Super-users", the new IT-upper class according to survey.

It's in Telias yearly report the new "upper class" is defined. This segment, to me already defined as "nerds", social life require them to be connected 24/7 and over 50 % use mobile internet. However

also this group of users still don't use their phones to surf as the industry expected, only 17% use their phone for this matter(compared to the average users 11 percents). As for the most important function in a phone first comes the camera, not that much of a surprise but considering how long the camera-phone's been around I think we can establish the impact the introduction of the camera to the industry must've had. The second most important function are the calender and first on 9th place we find the internet connectivity.
03.03.2009 12:49

New innovation from the Koreans: the see-through phone!

After the 3D phone, "Arena" here comes the transparent phone, both from LG. Well truth is it's not all transparent, only the keyboard but despitely you can't

complain of the design, at least that's my opinon. First shown at the Barcelona fair this baby is up for release already this summer. "Expected to make a new fashion statement" as LG put it in the press-release without mentioning anything about the technology behind is a bit worrying however, let's just hope the content isn't as empty as the shell..
24.02.2009 18:12

The future according to Sony-Ericsson.

Awarded "Best new Phone" with their C510, the "Facebook-phone" and the "Idou" is already predicted an iPhone killer so to some Sony Ericsson gained enough publicity as it was down in Barcelona this week. To me success is something that should be encouraged, especially if it involves projected 3D hologram pictures of whom you're speaking

with or "babelfish", the function making you able to conversate in say, Japanese without knowing a single word(!) Ok, it's only visons but the company presented fully working prototypes and it don't stop there, "The Harmonizer" not only checks your health, it comes with "screenfied" glasses if you ever feel like a TV-flick on a close-to-you parkbench while on your daily jogging-round. "The Exciter" with the princess-leila like 3D hologram function is the most exciting vision to me although I have to admit the function probaly ain't that much sought for but hey, didn't we say the same abou video-calls a couple of years ago? Here's a video of it in the meantime cause it will become reality, I hope.
15.02.2009 16:34

From Barcelona: The facebook-phone!

Presented today on the Mobile World-fair the Sony-Ericsson C510 are not only the companys latest Cybershoot model but also the first phone with smart facebook integration. Besides this the (apple-like)SMS function are

also new and as for facebook integration, logging in is simplified and can be running constantly in the background with the newsfeed update we're use to from regular computer use. I like the design but the camera, the same 3.2 megapixels we saw in K810 could've been updated. Pricing is not yet known but looking on how it's marketed it will probably get a fair price and it will be available in three colors: white/red, black or silver. More fair-news shortly!
09.02.2009 15:19

Position your buddies with new, free, mobile service.

And standing behind, as we're getting used to -Google. The new service, an addition to "Google Mobile" is named "Latitude", with the "Google" in front of it(of course..) and what it does? As some of you already might have figuered out, it put out where your friends are at

on a map/satellite-picture providing your friends have approved so and have a compatible phone, of course. Compatible phones are Nokia Smartphone Series 60 and phones based on Windows Mobile. If you want to check it out.
28.01.2009 10:43

Rumours about the "frances".

Supposedly the Sony-Ericsson C905:s little cousin it's most likely to bo named C903 when, or if it, hit the stores after the Mobile World-fair in Barcelona opening Feb 16 th. The forerunner, C905 is a fullblooded

camera-phone, cybershot of course as it's SE we're talking about but with only 5 megapixels(compared to C905s 8megapixels)the "frances" are probably for the broader masses. A side from that, resourses say the two phones are very similar, 2.4" display(320x240) and as for the design, the spy-pictures, although a bit blurry shows the digital-camera look we saw on the C905. Hopefully I have more info on the 16 th!

Iphone Nano, soon a reality?

As some of us wished for there where no news on the much rumoured iPhone Nano on the Macworld fair the other week, however some interesting information showed up the otherday but not from San Fran but China! According to

the highly regarded Economic Daily News an Taiwanese electronics-manufacturer, TSMC, have been engaged to develop components for a product called the "iPhone Nano". Even better, the components are to be delivered in Mars and, according to the same resource, the phone ready for the Market in June(!) However the rumours surrounding this possible phone are massive so I'd say nothing is for certain once you have one in your hand..
12.01.2009 16:18

From the CES: The Palm still grows!

With the introduction of the smartphone many outnumbered Palm. On a whole new platform called "Web OS" the "Palm Pre" comes with a slide-in keyboard(qwerty)and with the 3.1" display(320x480) it should compete

in the higher league! Wlan and GPS are also standard but the camera, a 3.2 megapixel is a little weak in my book. So are the 8 GB memory I think but it's all up to its competitors and we wil be able to see for ourselves during spring when it's launched in the states and throughout Europe. Pricing yet unknown.
05.01.2009 10:28

A preview on the Las Vegas CES.

On the worlds biggest consumer electronics fair, the CES Las Vegas nothing is for certain but a few goodies are already known. The iPhone Pro will probably see daylight with upgraded camera and a slide-out keyboard. Microsofts media-player Zune

are also most likely to be launched as the Zune Phone(Which officials still deny..)but again, on the CES nothing is for certain. This year the fair takes place between Jan 8-11 th.

Some people never goes out of fashion.

I'm talking about Bruce, Bruce LEE of course, cause apparently he still sells -in Hong Kong. With mini-nunchakus and a doll in Bruce Lee-yellowish it's Nokia who offer this pimped version of the N96 for a staggering

$ 1400! A side from that it's it's basically the same phone as the regular N96(cannot forget to mention the designed shell..)this is robbery to me but hey I spose that's also why it never will hit any other market then the Chinese..However, for those of you still interested, here's the launch-site(in Chinese).
24.12.2008 10:25

To hot for us?!

Xmini, the latest addition from Sony Ericsson but only for the Japanese market? I have to admit I'm jelaous, this small(75 x 44 x 18 mm, 75 gr)walkman-phone is a colorful mouthwatering sensation which makes me wonder what the heack I'm doing on this side of the globe! To comfort

myself however, the specs leaves alot to wish for. Besides the 4 GB internal memory the 320x240 pixels screen ain't exactly world class and it lacks functions like GPS or a decent camera but that neverthless I still want it! If you're lucky enough to live in Japan you can get it through operator KDDI, release this month, pricing unknown.
17.12.2008 11:03

iBreath, the alcohol detector for your iPhone.

What's next? The built-in fridge? I have to admit though, this might come pretty handy to some(not myself of course)but you didn't think the manufacturer stopped there? Did you? No, built-in are also the

timer function and the FM-transmitter! At this point it's only available in the states and you can find out more here.Pricing starts at $ 79. Drive safely!
09.12.2008 11:59

If you thought the Dior "Sapphire" were cheap..

..here is the "Glorious black", at $ 25 000 almost five times as expensive! A bit slimmed down but apart from that very similar to the Sapphire, well, if you overlook the 641

diamonds or 3251 carats or so, of course. Recently we've seen a minor boom in design-house phones, Armani and Prada to mention a few, but all with a pretty wallet-friendly price-tag and not the exclusivity one could expect. Designed for a very limited customer segment the "Glorious black" break this pattern and so does hopefully the earlier somewhat cheap technology in phones this segment.
03.12.2008 16:16

Nokia targets new costumers with its "Nseries".

Just as we got used to the old-fashioned somewhat strict and dull design-language of the Nseries here we have the Nokia N79. Compared to

previous N70 the similarities are strikingly few. First of all it's the appearance, the N79:s cover is switchable and the display is bigger but lacks on the other hand xenon-flash and contradictory it's more similar to the S60-model. As for colours(which to me seem to be one of few selling-points compared to similar products..)it comes in pink or green and only worth to notice when it comes to other specs are the 3.5 mm jack but if you insist of knowing a 5 megapixels camera and Wlan are there to help you out and ok, at 97 grams it's at least handier then its forerunner.
26.11.2008 16:11

Apple's not the only big earner out there..

..also the consumers wants a piece of the cake at least if you ask Steve Demeter, the developer behind "Trism", one of the gaming-titles available to you on the App Store. Working daytime as a computer engineer Demeter used his time off during a couple of months

and the result? $250 000(!) which should equal 1000 copies a day calculated on his 70 % commission a $5 copy, pretty darn sweet, Steve. As for the game it's one of them usual puzzle-games this time using the iPhones accelerometer allowing the user to interact throw movement.
19.11.2008 16:42

Interesting new concepts from LG.

Keep track on your relationships with friends and a braille-script phone for the blind are two of LG:s new concepts. The winner of LG:s internal competition which was held in Tokyo were the relationship-

tracker, aka "Planet home". Diodes brighten up towards the middle of the circular display the more you call a certain friend and those you don't, well they don't light up. A pretty lame concept if you ask me but the Tokyo-jury must've liked it..Then I see much more use for the braille-phone the "fbt"(pictured), a welcome addition to the range of mobile phones although it lacks a display but then again, it's for the blind.
11.11.2008 14:55

The facebook-phone!

For those of you who "just can't keep your hands of" this popular web-community here's the solution: the facebook-mobile phone. Developed by "3" together with INQ, it's the same men as behind the "skype-phone" and also this one, the "INQ1" are a "3-branded" phone. First out for release are

Britain and hopefully this one is more genuine then the skype-phone which suffered from allot of errors. As for the specs not much is known yet but according to the manufacturer it will "integrate the web in a whole new way" and can also be used as a mobile modem för example your laptop. How all this will turnout will be shown on November 13th, the day of the release. Pricing ~ $200.
04.11.2008 15:41

"Less is more", nothing Sharp or Tiffany ever heard of.

The Japanese branch of the jeweller Tiffanys together with Sharp decided to come up with this masterpiece of, ehum stupidity? If the financial-crises haven't hit you yet the Softbank 823SH is however yours for staggering

$ 130 000 but remember, with the phone come no less then 537 18-carate diamonds or maby it's the other way around? With the diamonds comes a phone..If we're to believe the manufacturers the last scenario might actually be more likely cause as for the specs, there are none but if you're stupid enough to go buy this phone(or rich)I spose they won't bother anyhow?
29.10.2008 18:53

What goes around, comes..

..around, and assuming intentions were good, Motorola got all possibilities to make it big with the "Motorola Aura". Not only is the display round, you have to twist the cover to get to the keypad and the glass

is made out of saphire. The "twister" is nothing new however but being the $ 2000 baby it's Motorola try to compensate with a backside window where you can watch the mechanic behind the twisting-motion work. It's all good this far but phones of this class tend to not care so much about specs and so is also the case with the "Aura" I'm afraid. A 2 megapixels camera and no without 3G it doesn' scream luxury to me and the size(141 gr) are way to big to me. However I'm sure there is a market for it and if you're interested it's available on the Motorola homepage(only) and also only for American citizens at this stage.
21.10.2008 13:50

Turn your iPhone into a laptop!

At least if we're to trust Active Innovation Management this might become reality within

a few years. The concept, the "olo computer" is good, most smatphones today have the capacity for everyday computer use and the idea just putting your phone into an rather empty laptop-shell makes sense. The question, in my opinion, is however there are a market for a product like this when the prices on consumer technology such as laptops already are so low? Are the consumers willing to compromise? Cause an compromise, an environmental compromise and the consuming saving aspect are the only real selling-points I can see for a product of this kind. Smart idea however and if you want you can check out more info over at the Olo Computer site.

Samsung i7110, a smartphone handy in size!

The rumours featuring Samsung i7110 have circled the web for quite some time now and although nothing is official yet a release now seems closer then ever. What's fascinating

about the i7110 is how Samsung managed to pack in not only a 2.6" screen but also Turbo-3G, wlan and GPS in what, judging by leaked pictures looks like a very handy phone. Although nothing is offical yet, once again, information says the camera is a 5 megapixels with double lights and the platform Symbian 60-series, same as in Nokias smartphones.
09.10.2008 12:49

Firefox in your phone.

Mozillas MD, John Lilly, recently made the statement in an interview with Linux Insider. "We want the web in your phone to become more like the ordinary" Says Lilly which sounds promising enough considering the range today. However

previous information told us we had to wait until 2010 for this to happen but Lilly says: "you can expect the alpha-version within a few weeks"(!) Keep your eyes open!

G1 -Google Android here comes the specs!

After the press conference here's the details: A 3.17 inch touch-screen based on the 117,7 x 55,7 x 16,5 mm(158 gram) unit it isn't the handset around but functions as the complete keyboard and 3G use alot of space. "Android", the new platform developed by Google will revolutionize the way

we use the internet on a phone, at least according to the manufacturer(s) themselves. And talking about manufacturers not only Google have been involved in this project, T-Mobile is the operator and HTC stands for the production. The camera is a 3 megapixels and the phone supports up to 8 GB micro SD-cards(2GB included). Wlan and Bluetooth are also there for the connectivity and most file-formats are supported. As for the pricing it starts at $ 179 with a T-Mobile subscription plan and will be released simultaneous in both Europe and the US before new years.

HTC Touch HD: Taking high-resolution one step further?

No less then 480x800 pixels it's supposed to hold, at least if we're to believe rumours on the highly-respected mobile phone site Modaco. It's supposed to hit the stores already this christmas according to the same source something I strongly doubt though because

HTC:s current and very uptodate product-line featuring the Toch Diamond and Pro and the S740, next spring is more likely to me. regardless of this pictures confirm a 5 megapixel camera(without flash?), 3G, GPS and based on what seems to be the Windows Mobile 6.1 platform. As for the measurements, 115 x 62.8 x 12mm, they are almost identical to the iPhones and as for the screen Sony Ericssons Xperia X1 will feature the same size(480x800). In stores soon or not, it sure looks darn fine! More info soon.

Replacing the Viewty: LG KC910.

Still with focus on the camera the specs of the KC910(yet to be renamed to something more "attractive")are very impressive, at least on the paper. How about the

8 megapixel camera with the ability of geotagging your pictures by the built-in GPS? Or the VGA-resolution of 30 frames per second in film mode?(120/sec in QVGA slow motion mode?). Even an Xenon-flash are there and the lens is from Schneider-Kreuznach. As its precursor, the KC910 also support 3G and wifi but as for the display all we know at this point is it's a touch-screen but LG have announced more info will be revealed soon. Release next month, October.

A whole new level of portable sound?

At least if we're to believe Soundmatters PR of its new "Foxl". Based in Reno the Foxl will be released just in time for the companys 10 years celebrations and looking

at previous products also this one is most likely to deliver the high-quality sound we're used to. Compact in shape and with a recharge-able battery(built-in)it comes with the option of bluetooth to make it compatible with most modern mobile phones. The "Twoofer", a combination between a woofer and a tweeter are there to deliver the sound and the première will be on the Cedia-fair in Denver on the 3:d of September. Prices range between $ 2-250 depending on options, release in the rest of the world is yet unknown.

27.08.2008 11:40

The "Peek": Simplicity taken to extremes?

Just as we were getting used to all-in-one solutions, and one function more spectacular then the other in the world of mobile phones, here is the "Peek". The "Peek" are there for one reason,

to send emails on. First out is the US and it will be launched by T-Mobile. Using the T-Mobiles net it would be easy to implay call and SMS-functionality but Peek will only make use of the email-servers of the net. To me this is a little to much simplicity, especially considering the price, $99.95 with a 12 month subscription but I spose time will tell...If you're interested it should be in your local T-mobile store shortly.

Sleak design from LG.

Despite the fancy design the LG KM380 is a quite cheap media-phone in the same range as Sony Ericsson W350 and the similarities don't stop there,

designwise, they're very much alike and so are the content and the price-tag so it's easy to see where from LG got their inspiration. That said, it's tri-band folder with a pretty lousy camera(1.3 megapixel) but once again, focus is on the media and the music that is. The FM-radio are there and so are the expandable micro SD slot and the phone support most flie types such as MP3, AAC/AAC+ and AMR. With a recommended price at $220(169 Euro)nothing bad could be said about the display either, a 240x320 pixel 2 incher and sizewise it's a little lighter then the Ericsson at 79 grams so if this is the design you prefer over the W350 it might be a decent buy. In stores very soon.

15.08.2008 10:27

Motorola Atila, another iPhone challenger.

Looking at the design the similarities are striking. However the software might not be cause according to resources the Atila will be built on the Windows mobile platform(6.1 Professional). That being said it's not all good,

Motorola ain't exactly known for their high quality smartphones and Windows based platforms unfortunately tend to interact badly with many mobile phones. As for the specs, the display will be a 2.8 incher with a 240x320 resolution and it will support 3G as well as W-lan and Edge, measurements is 109x60x13.75 mm. Further information, including release dateis not yet known but a qualified guess is this christmas as Motorola officials already confirmed a new line of smartphones around then.

Eazy Tile Phone -design your own phone!

Developed together with Orange the Eazy Tile Phone is the concept by Japanese designer Tzu-Fu Wang that might revolutionize the custom designed phone. Built by bricks, the idea is

you choose or make the design yourself and apply it on the bricks, sort of like a puzzle. This is about as much information there is on the serie, the Eazy Tile S60-serie but make sure to check back for more!

01.08.2008 12:10

Japanese men -more dirty then others?

At least if we're to believe the mobile phone industry and the Japanese IT-journalist Nobuyuki Hayashi. "On most Japanese cell phones you can't turn off the camera-click" he says. This in order to

prevent dirty ol' Japanese men to take sneak pics on crowded subway trains etc. Apparently this is a major problem in Japan and some manufacturers even increased the "click-volume" to further prevent this, my not very qualified guess is this opening up for a big import market of click-free phones amongst the perverts o Japan..

23.07.2008 12:02

"Omnia", new high-end smartphone from Samsung.

Based on Windows Mobile 6.1 and with GPS this 3G phone might be a worthy competitor to the iPhone. The display, an Heptic touch-screen, will have 240x400 pixels and the memory is staggering

8 or 16 GB, it's up to you and your wallet I suppose but pricing is yet to be known. The memory is expandable featuring a mikroSD-slot and concerning the connectivity, bluetooth and HSDPA are both featured as well. Known for their quality, samsung also decided to put an 5 megapixels camera in there and another, still not very common feature is the TV-out port opening up for many interesting compability options. Expected release Q4.

Still extremely high roaming charges within the EU.

When Iayn Dobsyn, Manchester, UK, got back from his vacation in Portugal and opened up the latest mobile phone bill he nearly choked on his morning tea. Nearly

25 000 £(~$ 55 000) the company, Yes Telecom, wanted from him for downloading the latest episode of "Prison break", this despite Dobsyn's agreement saying he had unlimited downloads. But the fine print stated: "As long as you stay in Britain" and to prevent the fact he himself might actually spend some time in prison Dobsyn decided to take the case to court, and he won.

This is only one of many similar cases within the union and EU have tried to make mobile companys lower their sometimes horrendous roaming charges with no major results. For SMS for example charges have only dropped from 29 to 28 cent so we're most likely to see new EU legislations in the near future. As for Dobsyn, he got away with a 200 £ bill, corresponding a 90 % discount on his previous one.

09.07.2008 11:54

"Supernova", the new line from Nokia.

In Nokias new serie of phones the supernova stands for design and function. First out is the 7210-, 7310-, 7510- and the 7610 -Supernova and looking at the performance none of them are really high-end material. Pricing is

not yet known but is likely to be very fair as Nokia probably are focusing on the masses(as we seen in previous lines). However, the 7610 is the best performance wise with a 3.2 megapixel camera but they all come with a camera(2 megapixels for the rest), and they are all regular GSM:s, no third generations here..As mentioned focus is on the design and interesting features are once again on the 7610 with a color shifting shell depending on the color of the environment. The 7510 comes with a new web browser and they will all hit the stores late summer/early autumn.

28.06.2008 16:19

Twist and charge(?)

Just in time for the Glastonbury festival the Orange Dance Charger is launched. Based on motion-energy the magnets and

the built-in weights transfer fuel to your mobile phones battery as you groove your body. At this stage it's only a prototype and it will be tested during the mentioned festival but just imagine how usefull this thing might be for various remote activites such as hiking or mountain climbing.

23.06.2008 15:17

Fast snap-shots with new Motorola.

Together with Kodak new Motorola ZN5 is developed for those situations you need a camera real quick. The camera is a 5 megapixels with auto-focus and

xenon flash and the phone also support upload services provided by shozus to make it compatible with sites like flickr and facebook. Apparently Kodak and Motorola have worked together on this project for several years and the results of this effort will be available to us this autumn.

19.06.2008 12:52

The projector for your iPhone, a logic step?

After the radio remote and the Nike iPod sport kit now comes the projector(!) for your iPhone. To bad Hanloi Technology, the company behind the product didn't put more effort into the

technology behind because a 200:1 ratio in contrast and a 640x480 resolution feels way to small regardless the "mini-label" or not. Most ironic is the fact iPhone lack most video-functions and the 10 ANSI lumen lamp-strength is not enough even for the darkest of presentations. Hopefully the price tag is less dark cause otherwise things don't look to bright for Hanloi Technology...

14.06.2008 12:43

8 megapixel from Sony Ericsson.

But it's not official until tuesday when the company is said to announce this phone, the C905 on a press conference. Besides astonishing 8 megapixels

the camera will also feature auto-focus, face-recognition and the new Smart Contrast function sources say. Besides a high performing camera, GPS, Turbo 3G and the much appreciated accelerometer function(turning the content of the display as one twist the phone)are also standard but hey that's not all, a TV-out port is the most useful new function to me. Pricing is not known yet but it's expected to hit the stores during the fourth quarter this year and will be available in gold, silver and black.

08.06.2008 11:33

LG KF310, the affordable 3G phone.

For less then $ 150, or even cheaper if you sign up the LG KF310 is one of the most affordable 3G phones around. Of course it can't compare with more expensive models but the camera(2 megapixel) is there and so is

the extra card-slot making it a complete media hub. The screen is a 2" TFT, 176x220 pixels and the phones overall dimensions, 97x48x16.8 mm should make it fit in most pockets also size-wise. To me it seems like very good value if you want to try out a 3G phone but worth looking out for is Nokias 3120 Classic and Sony Ericssons G502 with similar performance and in the same price range. The LG is already out on the market however.

The waterproof mobile phone is here!

Just in time for the summer season the Fujitsu F703i takes mobile phone use one step further, it's now not only possible to take your phone into the bathtub, you can watch your favorite tv-show while you're at it! With a 2.7 inch display,

HSDPA and TV-reciever it's equipped with all you need for TV-compability but that's not all folks! There to help you create the ultimate home spa is the 2 megapixel camera for(daring?) pictures and a media center to help you create the ultimate music experience! Release date is not yet set and it's most likely to hit asian markets first, stay tuned!

29.05.2008 13:20

Five times as good? The Dior phone is soon here...

...well at least if you live in Russia or China cause the newly rich is the consumer-segment in focus for Dior. About five times as expensive as similar models launched by other fashion houses such as

Prada, Armani and Dolce & Gabbana it's yours for $ 6000 (€ 3500). Unique for "MyDior", as it's named, is that it come with an extra phone intended to be worn outside your purse, a pretty useless function if you ask me but anything for showing of I spose. This is about all information there is for now but it also comes with the touch-screen and it's a folder. Check back for more info!

23.05.2008 12:52

Googles new mobile platform opens up for exciting designs.

Developed by the American design office RKS, the "Mimique" concept is an example of what can be done with Google's "Android" platform. The big difference

between Android and older PDA platforms is the use of open-source code which enable the user to download and customize its phone to a wider range then today. A great example of this development is the iPhone which have become subject of all kinds of modifications and now "Mimique"(pictured)is taking the concept even further. For more info check out RKS Website.

15.05.2008 11:25

Revolutionary 3d menu-system in new HTC Touch Diamond.

When HTC launch its new "diamond" they show no compromises. Gone is the outdated explorer browser in favour for a customized and much more efficient browser adapted for the new bigger

2.8" display. As the Windows phone the HTC is special browser support for sites such as google and youtube comes with it and when surfing the web in impressive 480 x 640 resolution the iPhone all the sudden seems a bit outdated. Not that I want to measure everything against the iPhone but HTC have made no secret about what they are competing against.

To enable connectivity 7.2 megabit turbo 3G and GPS are also standard and a new fun function HTC choosen to incooperate is the accelerometer which detects how the phone is held and shows display content there after, previously seen only in Nokia phones. If there's anything to complain about at this point it would be the camera, 3.2 megapixel's is OK but without flash or photo-light indoor images is most likely not to turn out very good and well, the pricing, $ 800, could be lower but once again, comparing with the iPhone...

Specs: Size: 102 x 51 x 11.33m, weight: 110 g, 528MHz CPU, 4GB internal flash, microSD slot.

Neonode expands.

Upon the release of the updated N2 Swedish based Neonode's focus is now on other potential markets. The N2, the one phone the company offer, was launched in

2007 and sales figures, 31 000 sold during the third quarter and a successful launch in Germany now bids for expandation. For those of you unfamiliar with the phone it's a touch screen based on windows but with its new and very appreciated menu-system, "Neno" and it's now available in blue, red, pink and lime except traditional black, pricing around $ 500. For more info check out Neonodes homepage.

Even more rumours: A new LG Prada?

Although not yet confirmed by LG, Prada recently confirmed some of the details about the LG Prada "II". Apart from the physical face-lift rumours

also has it the follower would undergo a major technical transformation and this now also seems to be true. Apart from a keyboard, turbo 3G and W-lan it's also most likely to feature a 5 megapixel camera and what looks like a 3" display. As it features a keyboard it's also most likely to build on a smartphone software and some sources has mentioned a FM-radio but until we here something from the officials themselves I spose nothing is for certain. However here's an image of the "Prada II" and stay tuned for more!

25.04.2008 14:49

New rumours about "iPhone-killer", Samsung i900.

It's Microsoft that finally confirms some details about the i900 but from Samsung it's still quiet. The keyboard on earlier models such as the i600 and the i780 is now gone in favour for a touch screen and the new Windows Mobile 6.1

enables interaction with software such as Excel and Word. Besides turbo-3G and W-lan it will also feature a 5 megapixel camera and FM-radio making sure to give the iPhone a tough fight. Pricing is yet unknown but expect release late spring.

15.04.2008 14:08

The disposable mobile phone.

After the successful launch of single use phones on the American market manufacturer Hop-On now have decided to enter the European market. At this first stage a number of

10 000 phones will be released targeting for consumers such as kids, travellers or anyone else who would find a very basic, but disposable phone for US $25 a good deal. It completely lacks features such as display or built in memory.

10.04.2008 16:11

950 000 Volt in your mobile!

Unfortunately this is not to power any extraordinary functions in your phone but to electrify your enemy. "The pretender", so far only available

in the US, is made for self-defense and when activated electricity is sent between the poles(as shown on the picture)and making a "sparkling" sound. Everything to scare off suspect enemies. It's priced around $70 and for more info check here.

CeBIT -Worlds largest IT-fair to start tomorrow.

Over 5 days over 6500 actors will participate in the IT-event of the year held in Hannover, Germany. Over 500 000 visitors are due

to vitness a huge cavalcade of fresh products to be launched and the organizers are expecting visitors from over 80 countries. Most interesting to us however is the "Home & Mobile Solutions" -section and the product (feature) in focus is already said to be the GPS. Welcome back for updates!

28.02.2008 14:02

Never again miss "that call".

Bluetooth have certainly opened up for a huge range of side-products to your phone and latest is this bracelet, or "BluAlert" -wristband as the manufacturer wishes to call it. What it does is

vibrating when you get a call but also when the devices(bracelet and the phone) are more then 15 feet(~5 meter) away from each other, a more useful function to me then the basic one actually. However it's based on Bluetooth version 1.2 but is also compatible with earlier ones. The re-chargable battery is fully loaded for 100 hour use after only 3 hours and I spose the design is ok. Prices start at $ 60 and for more info you can go to Boysstuff.

19.03.2008 14:07

Samsung challenge Nokia with new G810.

After the announcement of Nokia:s N95 Samsung's next with the G810. Both based on the Symbian S60 platform and sliders the similarities don't stop there, the 5 megapixel camera

and the design are strikingly similar. You might think this is the follow-up of the G800 but this is not the case, the G810 is a smartphone, not a Java phone, and besides the 2.6" screen(240x320 pixels) it's compatible with most format's(audio/digital-TV) and Turbo 3G is supported as well, of course. Prices start at $860, slightly cheaper the the N95($ 1000) and will be available during the 2:nd quarter.

14.02.2008 14:48

2.8" screen and 16 GB:s in the follow up of Nokia's N95, the N96!

And these are just a few of the new functions in N96 or what do you say about a 5 megapixel camera, digital TV or the support of geotagging which automatic

stores and shows the locations of your pictures on sites like flickr? Quite impressive to me and the GPS soft, Nokia Maps(2.0) also comes with a new function for "walk-navigation" a handy feature if you live in the big city or just is "normally lost". The system, Symbian 60 series open up for a lot of other applications and the design, well to me it's phenomenal! So when is this beauty on the market then? Q2 officials say and starting price is somewhere near the $ 1000 -line.

08.02.2008 14:39

Glofiish V900, TV-compatible wherever you are!

Developed by E-Ten it will be shown at the 3GSM World event in Barcelona next week and expectations are high! The GPS, wifi compability and turbo 3G make it the super-

phone it is but what make it really stand out is it's TV-functions making it compatible with most broadcasting-net's around the world, dvb-T, dvb-H, TDMB, and DAB broadcasting and of course it's all digital TV we're talking about. With it's format and internet compability's this is a smartphone/pocket pc and a great competitor to the Treo and the blueberry phones amongst others but we can't anything but guess the outcome before its release this third quarter, stay tuned!

02.01.2008 13:49

Liquid, the new way to power your phone if NEC will have their say.

Yup, and it's not all speculations cause the phone, the NEC Flask will be released sometime this year officials say. Driven by a

liquid fuel cell it will pioneer the market as we know it and it's not yet known what the actual "liquid" is but it's most likely some sort of methanol. Instead of charging the battery you will have to top it up when the levels are low so I spose a whole new of liquid containers will pop up. No further details have been released yet but the display is a touch-screen and talking about release, it's most likely to go on the Japanese market at first and depending on the success over there maby hit the markets elsewhere. Neat colors anyways.

28.01.2008 15:14

Nokia follows the latest trend.

One explanation for the success of Nokia are their market share in developing nation so maby it's wrong to say that "Nokia follows" as they actually should be considered the "trendsetter" in this case. After numberous of budget-phones other manufacturers such as latest Motorola with their F3 followed up this trend and now Nokia's repsonse, the

2600 Classic and the 1209 has been announced. Best overall value brings the Nokia 2600 with extra's such as a VGA-camera and FM-radio(compare with the F3 where you virtually get nthing besides a phone, hardly even a display) for a hundred bucks while the 1209 takes the price as the cheapest at the price of US $50 but the you have to be satisified with no camera and no radio. In both phones however is the tft-screen and the familiar nokia menu-system's and that's much more then most competitors can offer. The 1209 will mainly be sold in developing nations however but the 2600 will also be available elsewhere! Expect release this quarter.

22.01.2008 17:30

Apple forbid iPhone sales-figures to be released in Britain.

Due to the restrictions several British finance magazines have made their own research amongst the resellers and the results are clear:

iPhone sales in Britain is a fiasko! However this is not the official numbers so nothing is for certain but regardless Apple experienced another setback last tuesday when Steve Jobs had his presentation at MacWorld. No 3G phone was announced as most have us have thought and instantly the share fell 5% on the stockmarket, let's hope they have some other surprise on store for us, at least for their own sake!

18.01.2008 13:42

W760, Sony-Ericssons first with built-in GPS.

The new slider, introduced at the CES fair is the latest phone in the Walkman series and expected to be released during the second quarter this year on "selected markets", most likely Europe, NA and parts of Asia. Unique about this

phone is as mentioned the GPS, previously only available through a transmitter and the soft is delivered by Wayfinder. Available with "extra's" such as "ShakeMe" and the latest function, "SenseMe", said to choose music after your mood this is (as mentioned earlier)also a full fledged Walkman unit and included is also a 1 Gb memory card(Memory Stick Micro™ M2™). The camera, a 3.2 megapixel makes the phone a serious competitor to other top-phones on the market and so does the 2.2 inch screen although my personal opinion is you should be able to ask for more in terms of the design...

06.01.2008 10:41

Rumours about Nokia on the Las Vegas CES-Fair.

It's two new phones from the E-series that's expected to be announced by Nokia on the opening of the yearly Las Vegas CES-fair this sunday. As the E-series is developed for corporate clients the phones will be loaded

with functions. The expected E71 for example, follow-up of the E61i, will include most luxurys you get in Sony Ericssons top model, the P1 such as turbo 3G and a full keyboard and it will also be much smaller then its precursor(57x112x110 mm). The other phone, E66 and follow up of the E65 will have similar specifications but not a full keyboard. Both phones will have a 3 megapixel camera but again, nothing is for certain, we'll know tomorrow!(Pictured is the current E65)

01.01.2008 13:37

Forget megapixels, I3A sets a new standard.

How many megapixels you have doesn't necessarily say that much about your camera. This is one of the arguments mobile phone organisation I3A mentioned the other day when they announced their development of a new camera standard. Members of I3A is already Motorola, Nokia and Sony Ericsson and

they will together with 22 other enterprises participate in the process. Work has already begun but the time-frame of the project is uncertain at the moment, check back for updates!

21.12.2007 13:19

Motorola F3 (Motofone), as cheap as it get.

At least if you also ask for quality and not are willing to spend more then 40 bucks. Ok, there is no camera, no music-player and the screen(an EPD-diplay), well it's really one of a kind displaying numbers and letters

as you might be used to on your calculator but once again, for less then 40 bucks, what can you ask for? It's quite obvious, especially when browsing the very instructive and simple-to-use menu's this phone is developed mainly for developing countries and people who haven't yet had their first mobile phone. Having this in mind I must say Motorola succeeds.

14.12.2007 20:30

Nokia goes green(and healty!).

Cause what Nokia is promising for its new release of the "Eco-" concept at the CES Las Vegas fair asks for a lot of expectations. Cut in to two, the phone is dominated by the huge

screen and the other part, a measuring device carried around your wrist or neck, collaborate in returning you your health-status or the local weather! The name, "Eco", comes from the energy-reduction this phone is said to have and some parts is driven by solar-panels(!) Check back for news in January!

Motorola Z8, a smart, smart-phone without touch-screen?

What really make this phone stand-out against other smartphones is the software, UIQ. Previously limited to touch-screen phones only UIQ now is first-out on the Z8, or Motorola RiZR Z8 and as you might already have figuered out, no, this is

a touch-screen phone. Challenging the biggest fears I had about this fact I first download some softwares: a word processing program and a few games but although some functions lack behind I'm mostly satisfied with most of the integration. Excel, word and powerpoint files is easy to handle but a few games is almost impossible to navigate. The pre-installed web-browser, opera makes it easy to surf also bigger sites and overall I'm impressed by the functions of this phone. It comes with 3G, edge and of course GSM and the VGA(2 megapixel) camera is acceptable. The 2.2 inch screen is bright and clear with a resolution of 240x320 pixels and 1.6 million colours and the pricing is more then fair comparing with similar phones, be prepared to pay ~ $700 for the phone unlocked.(compare with over $1000 for Sony-Ericssons P1 upon release)

20.11.2007 16:17

Chinese iPhone-clone.

For some of us the wait have been long as the iPhone still only is for sale in a few countries so for us the solution is simple: Look to the east, or China to bee precise. Meizu M8 is almost identical

with the iphone and the new version, released next spring, have even been updated with the new IPod Touch look! The new M8(pictured) will also include the enlarged screen, now 3.4" and that to a lower price then the previous "non-touch" looking one or what do you say about $300 for the 4 GB version or slightly more then $400 for the 16 GB:er? Ironically it's almost exactly half of what you pay for the original, question is how much originality is worth? More info on the Meizu Me fan-forums.

Success for the iPhone in Europe.

The lines where very long outside the selected stores in Germany and the UK when the iPhone was released in Europe this friday. Choosen for the task where only Brittish operator O2 in Britain and T-mobile in Germany but regardless of their monopoly

Apple predicts the iPhone to achieve similar success amongst European customers as for their American peers. Prices is tagged £ 269($600) in Britain and in Germany very close by and in addition to that comes a monthly subscription at roughly $75. As for the rest of Europe some countries might be left out because of well developed 3G-nets as the iPhone s a GSM(GPRS) phone only. France and Poland amongst others are up next however and in 2008 it's time for Asia to join the fever.

First out in Nokias new music-series: the 5310 Xpress Music.

OK, it's cheap, less then $400 but branded a "express music" phone certainly brings some expectations. The head-phones is alright, not what you get with more expensive nokia phones but alright and you do get the 2 GB memorycard but apart from that

it's nothing new. The menus look like on any 40-series phone but that being said it does work, pretty good actually and for the price I spose it's good value. The 2 megapixelcamera is working very well and it's small in size, 103,8 × 44,7 × 9,9 mm and 71 gr(2.5 oz) only so if it's something simple you're looking for this might just as well be the phone for you. Available now.

Choose phone by the charger? Hmm...

...well, at least that's Samsungs new niche to attract people. Included with the charger, a "Zaku Commander helmet", is however the Samsung 913 SH. Shown at the Ceatec-fair

it got alot of attention but (un)fortunately it's only available in Japan. Labeled by Samsung as a "full face model", whatever that now means, it's equiped with quite a few great features such as the 3 inch widescreen QVGA display and great browser-compability. Prices on the japanese market varies.

Recycle your mobile phone?

Over the last three years 25 million mobile phones have been purchased in Sweden, that in a country of 9 million people. That and,

the fact less then a fifth of all these phones have gone into recycling made "Miljöpartiet"(the environment party) in Sweden make their last proposal, re-fund on your mobile. Jan-Olof Eriksson, MD at Swedens leading disposal service, "Avfall Sverige" supports the proposal an says "Mobile phones migh clear the road for recycling of other products such as calculators and memory-cards." As for myself I must say the idea is genius!

After X830 Samsung announce F200.

A 1.46 inch screen ain't much to compete with but fortunately that's not the case, Samsung instead tries to make it into the world of mobile music and what matters there is design and function, something Samsung

brought together very successfully in its forerunners. Minimalism is the keyword in also this phone, the Samsung F200, and the dimensions of 89x32x19 mm, 76 grams(2.6 Oz) will make it one of the smaller triband phones on the market. However this is on expense of the built-in memory, only 5 MB, but on the otherhand there is of course a memory-slot(SD) and I spose Samsung reason most music consumers buys an extra card anyways. RDS Radio, Bluetooth and support for various file-format's such as MP3/AAC/AAC+/e-AAC+/WMA makes the phone very compatible. It's released globally during this quarter, Q3 and prices start around US $200, fairly attractive I must say!

Sony Ericsson challenge with a 5 megapixel camera in new K850.

"Function before design" summarize pretty well the idea behind the new Sony Ericsson K850. The phone isn't ugly, no it's elegant with clever detailing and a shiny black surface but you can't say it stand out through the design, it stands out with its functions. The new navigation system, turbo 3G and

of course the camera set a new standrad for other competitors to follow. About the new navigation(the Joystick skipped in favour for a key/touch-screen system): it could be better and considering it's a high-range phone maby it could have been tried out on a cheaper model first cause allot of the, before, carefully developed and successful benefits of Ericsson navigation is gone. The camera however is a true victory, one of the best I've tried and small features like the sensor which detect, and lie down, the screen content if you hold the phone in "camera position" contribute to a great photo experience. That and great pictures of course, indoors as well as outdoors. The specification reads as follows: A 2.2" tft-screen, 3G and hsdpa, a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash and the size: 102 x 48 x 17 mm, weight 118 gr(4.2 oz). Release: This month and prices around US $700.

New HTC Touch Dual, the most likely iPhone competitor?

Aside from one of the markets best touch-screen system, "Touchflo" also in the previous model, a complete keyboard and high-speed 3G now is standard. Comparing to the iPhones 3.5 inch display Taiwanese HTC's

2.6"(QVGA flat touch screen) is surely smaller but so is the price-tag, especially throughout Europe where a iPhone will cost you abow US $1000 and that's also where HTC expects to dominate the market. The "Dual will cost you around half that price(~$600) but it's not only about the screen size and the price-tag however, the precursor sold very well and was very appreciated for its reliablity and performance and the new keyboard(a 20 key QWERTY one) sure make it stand-out against the iPhone and this without obtaining giant weight/size dimensions. At 120 grams(4.2ounces), 107 x 55 x 16 mm it's actually smaller then the Iphone in everything except thickness(iPhone 11.6 mm).Other goodies is the 400 MHz Qualcomm processor(a rumour and still to be confirmed) and the 3 megapixelcamera. Already released in Japan, Europe now is next so if you happen to live in the UK, Poland, France Romania or Switzerland it will be released this month as a signature device for operator "Orange". As the precursor "HTC touch" was released in North and South America as well also this one is most likely to become available soon. Note: it's also available in silver this time.

TV in your phone reality for more and more people.

120 million people, that's how many people analytic company Juniper predict will use TV-services 2012. The US followed by

Japan and Italy is in the lead due to the report but settling everything is the cooperation between the governments and the companys. Nokia's New.

Proceeding the E50, the Nokia E51 is one big upgrade in the companys W-Lan serie. The new "Symbian serie 60 3rd edition" along

with a 3G, a 2 megapixel camera and(of course) W-Lan makes it top of the top. The dimensions is small as well, 115x47x12 mm and a ewight of a 100 grams make it one of the smaller of its class. You can open office documents and it's compatible with chat-services such as MSN Messanger and Yahoo and of course you can also dial up with IP. Prices start around $600 and it's available now.

LG impress us with the new KU-990.

Introduced at the Berlin IFA fair the otherweek LG's new high range model, the LG KU-990 instantly was sold out in many stores throughout Europe. Most remarkable about this

phone is the camera, a 5.1 megapixel with autofocus and Schneider-Kreuznach lens technique making it into the créme de la créme of camera-phones. A side from still pictures the video camera can handle 120 screens a sekund and there to show it the 3 inch touch-screen. Price set around US $500.

GPS use expected to boom.

With models such as Nokias N95 analysis company Berg Insight predicts the number of GPS users to reach 43 million by the year of 2012, a growth with more then five times. "Record sales

of car-navigators in Europe and The United States have made people aware of the use of GPS and now the big actors on the mobile phone market competes about delivering the same services to pedestrians, travelers and commuters." Says André Malm in a press release. The company also predicts most of these new services will be financed by advertisers.

Turbo 3G at 7,2 megabit per second from HP.

Hewlett Packard Ipac 914 and 614 are the new 3G phones but they won't come cheap, expect to pay at least $700. On the otherhand

you get a phone capable of speeds up to 7.2 megabits and GPS. Both are equipped with "Google Maps" but the HP 914 feature a 3 megapixel camera and a keyboard. The 614 is run by Windows Mobile 6 Professional and therefore also include a touch-screen but both are similar in size. The choice is up to you!

After Walkman, now the playstation phone!

After Nokias relaunch of the N-Gage and the introduction of the entertainment packed iPhone now Sony Ericsson takes up the competition with a Playstation phone. However officials deny saying they never comment on future products but in an

interview the company's Peter Ahnegård confirms the rumours and declares "a phone of such kind are in the advanced stage of planning." After Sony Ericssons successful use of Sonys "Walkman" and "cybershot" labels a "playstation" branded phone seems pretty natural to me, question is when?

Your personal trainer: In your pocket.

Frankly it's probably there or in my basement storage I would like to put him if I had one so I guess the idea is pretty neat. Workout features in your phone is nothing new however but what few know is how

advanced some of these features have become."I used to keep track on my training through my computer but now I use my phone to count how long and how often I walk or run" says Anders Strom from Gothenburg, Sweden, who try to loose some weight with his Nokia N95 and he's not the only one. Nokia was actually one of the first to include these features with the software of the 5500-series but now most phone manufacturers of any decency have at least one or two models. Ericsson W710i is one of the more popular and rumours says Samsung is working on one together with adidas. The W710i features a step-counter, lap-times and a beep-signal if you're slowing down and the new Samsung phone is said to include a heartbeat counter. Many "normal" mobile phones have some of these tools as well, you just have to find that motivation to browse the menu to find them;)

26.08.2007 11:33

Finally something new: a fingerprint reader for your phone!

But it won't come for free, "P´9521" is developed by Porsche and Korean Sagem Communications and will most likely cost you abow $150. For that you'll get a phone cut out from one piece of aluminium, a touch-screen with non-scratch mineral glass and the fingerprint reader sparing you "another number to memorize"

by replacing the PIN. Besides the "extras" a 3.2 megapixel camera is included, 3G and a bluetooth headset with remote control or wait, maby that's more of an "extra" as well. As one could expect however the phone is loaded with luxury and I have to say, regardless of the price, that this phone looks like it might become the best luxury model since the Nokia Vertu, at least on the paper. As mentioned no pricing has been set yet but doing a little "googling" it's most likely abow $150 and with risk of having to dissapoint a few, it won't be available in the US, Japan or even in Korea, developer Sagems home country, for some reason.

From jeans to mobile phones...

...the step isn't very big nowadays and there to show us why is Levi's. I hope. Together with the people behind the

Hummer phone, French Modelabs, Levi's is expected to release the phone in selected stores throughout Europe in September. For releases elsewhere as well as the technical features the company's press release didn't reveal much but the regular "media-center" and "lifestyle"-nonsense but one thing worth to note is the accompanying key chain keeping your phone in place, only with the right brand of jeans of course.

16.08.2007 12:25

New Cybershot from Sony Ericsson.

It's the photo-features that will stand-out on this new 3G model named K770. A 3.2 megapixel camera with a built in photo-editing program, "Photo fix" makes it possible to

edit your pictures as you go, right in the phone. Auto-focus, a powerful photo light are also there to assist and according to the manufacturer the camera will have capacity to make pictures printable in A4 sizes. As for the design, it's similar to the previous Sony Ericsson Cybershot models: discreet, elegant lines and very slim, this one only 14.5 mm. No pricing set yet but it will be available next quarter and it comes in two different colors: truffle brown or purple.

10.08.2007 12:58

Two new design phones from Nokia.

With Nokia 7500, 7900, the company introduce its new serie "Prism". Not very surprising, the dress code is light, many different kinds of light and as for the Nokia 7900 Prism the keypad can be set into 49 different color-schemes. Besides that a notable feature

is the "prism-like" sharp lines and edges. The 7900 is the 3G-phone of the two and the more expensive one and it also comes with a OLED screen instead of the more common and energi demanding LCD screen. Both will be available in stores during the third quarter this year, 7500 for $350 and the 7900 for around $650.

45 words a minute: New SMS technology makes it possible.

Scientist Per Ola Kristensson at the Cambridge university that developed the new technology. The use of the touch-screen has increased every year, but instead of storing, and identifying, the pen-strokes as phone's do today the new technology will remember what's in between the letters. Per Ola says -"the

nice thing is you don't have to be exact in your typing, the technology remember how you write and ignore un-identified strokes." At this moment the "big sharks" is fighting over the technolgy but Per Ola, the scientist who own the patent, have made sure he won't let it go very easy...

Armani, the next fashion house to enter the market?

After LG's success with the Prada phone rumours now say Samsung will collaborate with Armani on a new phone. The cooperation won't stop there
however, a whole new product-line will be developed and considering it's Samsung we're dealing with that could cover anything from a Armani microwave to a Armani dust-cleaner. The phone however is expected to be released this winter but no more info on this is available at the moment but make sure to check back for updates.

New trendsetter from unknown Korean?

With a feminine touch and a new way to fold Sky IM-U200 is one of the most inspiring phones on the market today. At first, it looks like a folder but actually, it opens more like a slider, you got to see for yourself! However the bad specs
leaves much to ask for: a 1.3 megapixel camera, bad resolution display and low built-in memory is not very competitive for a phone its range($550 in Korea). Bluetooth is included however and so is a headset, US and European release early September, question is if the almost bancrupt company still is...

Men, not women, talks most in the phone.

According to a a recent British report the popular prejudice isn't true. The studie performed by Nectar shows minutes talked on the phone have increased for men but been lowered for women during the latest years. Men average 32 min per day while women

is satisfied with 26. However it's still to early to crown men big-time users cause the study also shows women are more active messaging then men. Most popular subjects to talk about was, not very surprisingly, sports for men and fashion and men among women.

Olympic Games Special Edition in 18 Carat gold.

Dedicated to future winners in Peking's summmer olympics 2008 the Samsung P318+ will be loaded with olympic wallpapers, tunes and of course the cover in 18 C Gold. To most however this phone

will be as unreachable as the medals, Nokias gold phone, the 8800 Sirocco was tagged around $2000 once it set out but however no pricing has been mentioned yet. Nor has any of the phones features but Samsung's P310 gives a good hint of what to expect which would include at least 80 mb built in memory expandable with with a microSD slot, a 2 megapixel camera, bluetooth(v 1.2?) and a 320x240 pixel TFT screen with 256 K Colours. Judging by pictures also weight and dimensions should be comparable between the two(86 x 54 x 8.9/ 85g). Both phones also lack 3G and as a guideline the P310 sold for $700 when it was introduced and today you can find one much cheaper. If you're not much for gold maybe a more reasonable option?

13.07.2007 14:58

A new iPhone already this year?

Before the iPhone hardly hit the shelves Apple filed a patent for another "multifunctional handheld device" on July 5th which numerous sources(including a JP Morgan report) confirm's is the new iPhone.
The JP Morgan report speculates of a new, cheaper iPhone, originated from a Nano with pricing on no more then $300. At this point nothing is confirmed by Apple official's but one thing is for certain: A follow up will come and a cheaper alternative would pose a serious threat to today's leading phone makers.

Seniofon -for seniors and the rest of us forgetful.

Big is the word to describe this phone: big buttons, big type and, well, loud signals. On the back is an attack-alarm.

Already introduced by it's manufacturer Emporia on CEBIT in 2006 it wasn't however until recently the phone gained the global reputation it deserves. It's amazing no one came up with this earlier but fortunately someone did and Seniofone did it good. It's a genuine construction, fairly priced at $350 and with a clever soft making menu navigation very easy even for the least tech-oriented. The functions is very basic of course, no media player, no camera but instead the phone features some other very interesting things such as a flashlight and the possibility to run it on AAA-batteries. Looking forward to a 3G version!

Note: On some markets known as "EmporiaLife".

RAZR gets a follow-up in RAZR2

Motorola's RAZR is one of the world's most bestselling mobile phones. RAZR2 will come in three versions - V8, V9 and V9m where the V9:s is 3G compatible.
Besides the (once)unique design this phone will additionally use the Crystal Talk-technique which according to Motorola will improve the sound quality of the calls. New is also another interesting function which alllows you to send SMS even when the phone is off. All the versions support web-browsing and HTML support and if you own one of the 3G models you'll be able to surf in speeds up to 3,6 Mbps.

Go biking before you call.

Mobile phones in developing countries are getting much more common. However some countries falls behind and the reason is bad electricity supply, people can't simply charge there phones but things might be about to change.
Motorola has developed a charger that can be driven by a bike, just like a old fashioned dynamo, introduction is expected this year.

15.06.2007 10:16

From purses to mobile phones, LG Prada sees the light.

Also known as LG KE850, this phone is developed from the South-Koreans in collaboration with the Italian fashion house Prada.
We have seen it before, Motorola have had its share of "limited editions" and Porsche have made its attempt into the market, however the LG phone is different, KE850 is a completely new phone. It's the first mobile phone with a fully covered touch-screen and comes with many unique features. Only 12 mm thick it's the slimmest phone in the LG-line and besides the usual features you can claim for of a phone of its class(MP3/Media-player, 2 megapixel camera etc etc) the "fashionist" can choose from a whole range of Prada accessories. Fashion no or less, for about 750 dollars, a 1 GB memory card could well be included.

08.06.2007 14:41

Mobile Gaming -A kids thing? Think again...

Only 15% of the games downloaded in the US are made by kids aged 13-17. In relation, adults between the ages of 25-34 stand for 29%.
The study, a monthly tracking by the NDP Group, gives some explantion to why this is though, "the main reason teens have not surpassed their adult counterparts comes down to the numbers of mobile downloads and game play: compared to adults, there simply are not as many teen cell phone subscribers as there are adult subscribers." Regardless, 29% out of 29 million gamers(the total amount of mobile-device gamers)is quite a massive amount of adult players, a group non-existant just a few decade ago.

25.05.2007 20:37

FlipStart -more function to your mobile phone?

Well, actually it's more of a handheld but judging by it's size(5.9" x 4.5" x 1.35") and it's function as a regular cell-phone it's sure to become a competitior in the segment.
Bluetooth along with a 1.3 megapixel camera is standard but the main features in this mini-PC lay's in it's hardware. A 1 GHz processor, 256 MB Ram and a 30 GB hard-drive give you the space to act as you normally would do infront of your regular PC except from this one, you can actually keep in your pocket! The unit is already for shipping and prices around the $2000-line, the enhanced battery(increasing battery-life from 2-6 hours)might also be a good investment!

14.05.2007 15:26

Sony-Ericsson S500, a mobile disco?

Grabbing a S500 is like getting your hand struck by lightning. It's flashing, flaming, vibrating - "the experience is what counts" says representatives. S500 is an attempt to follow up the companies success with w880i, especially popular amongst the youthfull clientel but this phone lacks the 3G, a plus for some.
Despite the hallucigenic effects battery time is good(370 H stand-by, 9 H talk) and as with the w880i it also comes with a 2 megapixel camera and bluetooth supporting A2DP. The finish in Alu is also borrowed from the w880i and the main difference between the two lay in S500:s slider function, w880i:s 3G and the price, S500 sales for $300 whilst you have to pay up almost the twice for the w880i. So if you're looking for a medium-priced good ol' GSM phone and fancy the idea of a phone switching its looks depending of the seasons or the time of the day the S500 might be a good option to say, Nokia 6300.

Is it a boy or a girl? Sony-Ericsson M610i, judge for yourself

For Sony-Ericsson the question is clear, it's a girl and her name is "Lizzy". To me it seems like an Intel-like attempt of making something "personal again" but regardless this might turn out to be one heck of a phone. Maybe.
Because although being one the most spoked-about phones and expected to be released April 14, we don't know that much yet. It will however come with a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, WiFi and a HUGE display(320 x 240 TFT). Rumour says HSDPA as well but rumour also says Sony-Ericsson, the father, isn't happy about the name "Lizzy" and plans to re-name his baby "Elena".

Samsung F300 Ultra Music gets a face-lift and becomes Samsung UpStage

When the marketing strategists now finally have decided upon the name, Samsung Upstage, they have certainly made sure no one will walk by unnoticed. Released together with
global communications company Sprint-Nextel this phone is already getting heavy marketing and judging by the specs compared with the price it's also most likely to become a new big-seller! For $149(with 2 year contract)you get 45 MB built-in memory along with a 64 MB microSD card which is expandable to 2 GB. You get the new Battery-Wallet feature which gives you up to 16 hours of music playback and you get what Sprint calls "the dual-sided-form-factor" which makes great use of both the sides of the phone with its two displays and layout of the buttons.

Sony Ericsson extends its Walkman series but are the features extended enough?

It's always nice to see fusions in the corporate world result not only in financial winnings but also as an improvement of the actual line of products. If this is the case with the Sony-Ericsson W580i is to early to say but the Walkman series has sure turned out to be a success for the company. So what's new to this phone?
It will come in two colors,"style white", pictured in the image and which creates a somewhat sporty look which has become something of the W-series trademark color but the phone will also be available in "urban grey" which adds a more exclusive touch to the phone and, as the lifestyle-phone it's made to be, maybe can attract a wider range of potential buyers. To make this happen, calorie and stepcounters are there for the athletes, business card exchange functions for the businessmen but in spite of Mega Bases™, Playnow's™ and musicDJ's™ for the music-lover in all its TM glory I miss any real improvements, it all feels a little outlined. The camera is still only a 2 megapixel as in w610 and w880i and with bluetooth and GPRS now almost standard features in phones of its class I'm not sure if this phone will become the sales-hit it could have become. However, it sure looks nice and the ultra-sleek design(only 14 mm thick) along with the included 512 mb memory stick might compensate for some potential buyers out there. It's expected in stores during Q3 but the price not yet set. For the sake of the manufacturer let's hope it's not too high.

25.03.2007 14:26

Nokia E90 Communicator

Also Nokia wants a piece of the business segment and introduces its latest phone to the E series as a "mobile office". A 16 million color display along with WLAN and HSDPA is there to, as officials say, "show webpages as they are supposed to look".
GPS and the newly developed Nokia Map application are other goodies which makes sure this phone is right on track and FM radio, music player and two cameras(one on 3.2 megapixel and one for video conferances)attracts the right clientel. The only downside I can see is the dimensions, 132 x 57 x 20 mm and a weight on 210 g isn't exactly light but question is if a phone of this type could be much smaller with two displays of which one 800 x 352 pixels and without lowered battery capacity? However the phone is expected to hit the market already during the second quarter and price set around 750-800 Euros($1000), maybe a little expensive as well?

Samsung Q1 Ultra UMPC

Despite limited success with the Q1, Samsung presented its second phone to the series as expected on the thursday of the Cebit exhibition. Slightly smaller, 228 x 124 x 24 mm but with a larger screen and with the touch screen replaced by a thumb operated system are some of the more notable improvements.
60 GB harddrive and the customized Windows Vista Home Premium edition replacing the XP Tablet PC edition is also worth mentioning and together with WiBro and Bluetooth -support creates a potentially full fledge media hub. The processor is still from Intel, a 800 MHz microprocessor. Most remarkable for this phone however is the extra's, optional will be a fingerprint scanner and foremost you could choose the 6 cell battery with capacity for 6.8 hours instead of 3.5. Prices will range between 980 to 1500 Euros ($1300 - 2000) and will be available in stores from May.

Nokia's N77 with DVB-H mobile TV

Nokia has announced a new entrant to the N-series line up the 'Nokia N77' which the company is calling as a multimedia computer.
Apart from the N series multimedia goodness the N77 packs in DVB-H technology ( Digital Video Broadcasting - Handheld) for watching digital TV on the move. The phone packs in a 2.4 inch wide screen supporting 16 million colors, 2 Megapixel camera, stereo speakers and Bluetooth. The triband GSM phone supports EDGE, GPRS and UMTS as well. It has 20MB of internal memory and a Micro SD card slot for memory expansion upto 2GB. The N77 runs on Series 60 3rd edition. Specs include Bluetooth, Visual FM Radio, Push to Talk and Java. The Nokia N77 will be available from 2Q 2007 for 370 Euros ($ 480).

Samsung F700 to challenge iPhone

Despite what misgivings you have concerning Apple's iPhone, one thing is certain. This phone has sparked off a race among other cellphone manufacturers to come up with their own versions.
Take Samsung's Ultra Smart F700 for example - it not only features a full touchscreen display, but a QWERTY keypad as well in case people cannot get used to sending text messages by merely touching. Additional features include VibeTonz technology that let users feel the buttons thanks to responsive vibrations. The F700 had better come with decent battery life to accomodate the host of functions.

Samsung SCH-F609 cell phone with dual stereo speakers

Samsung has been quiet in the first month of January as we didn't see any new cell phone released from Samsung.
However, stepping into February, Samsung is ready to pop out new cell phones like crazy as what she did in year of 2006. The latest new Samsung cell phone that is just released in China is the Samsung SCH-F609 which is a mediocre CDMA cell phone that comes with 2.2” 262K 176 x 220 k TFT screen. Other features of F609 cell phone includes a 1.3-MP digital camera with ISO settings, white balance settings and etc, MP3 player, micro-SD expansion slot, GPS V2 support and Bluetooth technology.
