Samsung X660 review

Samsung X660 is interesting for its design. The external monochrome display is more a plus, than a minus.

However the presence or rather a middling VGA camera only increases the price. At a size not bigger than your credit card it can definitely be called small. Add to that the fact that weighs only 2.75 oz (78 g) put it in the featherweight family so now you can carry your phone is not an heavy lump in your pant pockets anymore. In spite of being one of the lightest Samsung phones available in the market it is sure to make heads turn when you take it out and flip it open.

The Samsung X660 has an inbuilt VGA camera which is designed so that it's slightly sunk into the case in order to prevent scratches which is the peril of most camera phone users. It has many modes like Black and White, Sepia and plus you can add other effects which makes taking photos even more fun. It is possible to expose compression quality: super fine, fine, normal, economy.

Besides, you can make a mosaic of 2x2 or 3x3, when you take 4 or 9 photos later joined into a single picture. To top it all off – it even records video with sound. This phone pushes the boundaries of what you can do with a camera phone!

Its bright UFB screen with the resolution of 128x160 pixels (21x33 mm) capable of 65K colors is very good thus it possible to read information on the display even in the brightest sunlight. This is an important feature which gets ignored most of the time but looks like Samsung took care of it this time.

The Samsung X660 also features a second display on the flap of the phone which can display important information without having to open the phone. The backlit number pad is large and firm so no accidental pressure gets applied while using it and also becomes a cinch for people with big hands.

The X660 powered by an 800 mAh Li-Ion battery which gets fully recharged in 2 hours can hold up to 500 contacts in its phone book. It has GPRS, USB, WAP and Modem connectivity – thus it can be connected to many different varieties of devices. The polyphonic 40 channel based ring tones reproduces sounds beautifully and it can be a joy listening to your phone ringing.

The phone has in-built games and newer ones can be downloaded as and when you want them. To play games on the flip open LCD is almost akin to playing arcade games as a kid!
